Alpha Lambda Delta

The Art Institute of Washington is in the process of petitioning for membership to Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD). Alpha Lambda Delta is an honor society for students in their first year at an institution of higher education. They're a national organization that's been in existence since 1924.

The Art Institute of Washington is partnering with ALD to recognize those students with a 3.5 CGPA or higher, are enrolled full time in a Bachelor's degree program. Alpha Lambda Delta's mission is to "encourage superior academic achievement... to promote intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning, and to assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals."

Peer Mentoring

They say "experience is the best teacher." That is why we pair upper level students with newcomers at The Art Institute of Washington. You will have the option of being matched with a peer mentor to serve as a sounding board for anything that might present a problem. Whether it is social, personal or academic, you can rely on a peer mentor to steer you in the right direction.

General Education

general education The General Education (GenEd) requirements describe the core courses all students must take in order to graduate. They are an important component of students' education at The Art Institute of Washington. Besides specializing in a major and training for a career, students should become familiar with some of the many rapidly changing disciplines. Through these requirements, students:

  • expand their historical, aesthetic, cultural, literary, and philosophical perspectives
  • improve critical and analytical thinking; and
  • learn skills in finding, managing, and communicating knowledge.
